As you probably know, the holiday season typically spans from Halloween to New Years. Typically, this season is a time of fun and family. During this season, you’ll probably find yourself surrounded by more sweets than you normally are and let’s face it, this is a fun time of year! Pumpkin and spices fill the air, and the night of trick-or-treating is approaching. However, with candy around the corner, this means you and your children will be more vulnerable to cavities.

Naturally, one thing you might want to consider doing is simply practicing moderation. Odds are, you and your kids, will be eating things that aren’t on your typical diet—and there isn’t anything wrong with that. However, you should try to avoid eating too much sugar. You should also try to also eat healthy foods since doing so will help balance the good and bad bacteria in your mouth.

As you know, brushing for two minutes twice a day, while flossing every day will help you prevent tooth decay, and keep you and your families oral health in tip-top shape. Water can also help you avoid cavities—whether you drink it or rinse with it. You see, water can negate the acids in your mouth and carry bad bacteria or food particles from your mouth.

If you’re worried about your oral health this candy-filled season or are simply interested in a thorough cleaning, please don’t hesitate to give Big Grins a call at 970-407-1020.
